Cseppkőbarlang Angliában/ Limestone cave in England

Múlt hétvégén barlangásztunk Buxtonban. Nem is gondolná az ember milyen kincsekre akad Angliában.
Last weekend we were caving in Buxton. You would not have thought about to find such treasures in England.

Szóval a múlt hétvégén ellátogattunk Buxtonba, ahol egyetemre jártunk. Másfél éve nem jártunk arrafelé, már hiányzott. Amikor ott tanultunk, sajnos nem tudtunk elmenni kirándulni, tehát most bepótoltuk. Első úticélunk a Poole's Cavern, ami egy cseppkőbarlang.

So last weekend we went to Buxton, where we were studying at university. We have not been there for one and half year, so we missed it. When we were studying there, unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to see the interesting things around, but now we looked around. Our first destination was Poole's Cavern, which is a limestone cave.

A barlang 2 millió éves, és Buxtonban, Derbyshire-ben található a Peak District Nemzeti Parkban. Egy történet szerint a barlang Poole-ról kapta a nevét (Poole's Cavern), aki egy bűnöző volt. Búvóhelyként használta a barlangot a 15. században. Hivatalosan a barlangot 1853-ban nyitották meg, de már 1683-ban is turisztikai látványosság volt.

The cave is 2 millio years old, and is situated in Buxton, Derbyshire, in the Peak District National Park. According to a story the cave derives from an outlaw, Poole. He used the cave in the 15th century as a lair. Officially the cave opened in 1853 to the public, but it was a tourist attraction already in 1683.

A barlang 310 méter hosszan látogatható és 4 kamra van benne. A római kamra, a nagy kupola, a buggyantott tojás, és szobor kamra. 3 nagy jelentős cseppkő-szobor található a 'Sertés oldalas', 'Mária a Skótok királynője pillér' és a 'buggyantott tojás'. Mindegyikről mutatok képet.

The cave is open to the public around 310m in length, and includes 4 chambers. The Roman Chamber, Great Dome, Poached Egg and Sculpture Chamber. There are 3 main large limestones called 'Flitch of Bacon', 'Mary Queen of Scots' Pillar' and 'Poached Egg'.

Ennek a cseppkőnek is van egy története. Ennek a története az, hogy valaki letörte a cseppkő végét, ezért nem csúcsos az alja. Aztán jóval később egy kertben megtalálták a letört darabot, amit aztán leraktak a cseppkő elé.

There was a story about this stalactite as well. The story says that someone broke the end of the stalactite, that is why the bottom is not pointed. But then, later on they have found the broken end what then they put in front of the stalactite.

A következő kamra a buggyantott tojás nevet kapta, a cseppkő tetejének a szinéről.
The next chamber is called the poached egg, named about the look of the strange stalagmite.

Az idegenvezető megengedte, hogy ezt az egy cseppkövet megérinthessük, úgyhogy én kaptam is az alkalmon, engem láttok a jobb oldalon.
The tourist guide allowed to touch this stalagmite, so I took the opportunity, you can see me on the right side.

A következő kamra a 'Mária a Skótok királynője pillér'. Azért nevezték el Máriáról, mert ő volt az egyik legkorábbi látogató a barlangban, és itt pihent meg.
The next chamber is the 'Mary Queen of Scots' Pillar'. It has been named about Mary, because she was one of the earliest visitor, who had a rest here.

Ez a Szobor Kamra, mert ebben a csillogóan fehér mészkőben mindenki mást vél felfedezni. Mind a két oldalról lefényképeztük.
This is the Sculpture Chamber, because everyone can see different things in this shiny white limestone. We took photos from both sides.

Még egy érdekességet el kell mesélnem. A barlang megtartja Buxton átlaghőmérsékletét, ami 7 fok. Rajtam felül 4 réteg ruha volt, de még így is fáztam.

I have to tell you one more interesting thing. The cave keeps the average temperature of Buxton which is 7 degrees. I was wearing 4 layers on the top, but I was still really cold.
